Hi. I'm Sylvia Mawby. I'm a science teacher at Shipston High School, a small rural secondary school in Warwickshire. I read about nquire in the recent edition of the ASE magazine and thought I'd have a look. I have been experimenting with wikis and survey monkey with my classes this year, and nQuire looks like it might be a really good tool for delivering APPs at KS3 and practicing IAA technique at KS4. We are looking for something our more able students can work on independently towards the end of a topic and again this looks like it might fit the bill. Hopefully I will have time to have a bit of a play before the end of term as our school IT system can be a bit of a minefield when trying to gain access to internet based data!

nQuire for Shipston

Glad to hear that nQuire might be a useful tool for able students at KS4. You can try downloading the two example inquiries (Healthy Eating and Microclimates). The download versions have empty data - so they can be configured for your needs and don't require access to internet data. Do let me know how you get on. We are working on the authoring system, which will allow new inquiries to be created, but that is currently at Alpha test stage, so not ready for wider use yet.
